Kierrätysompeluidea: Dinosaurus-pyyhekaapu lapsille - Upcycling idea: Dinosaur-towel gown for kids

Sain idean tällaisesta hauskasta "pyyhekaavusta" ensinnäkin, koska meillä on paljon joutavana olevia pyyhkeitä. Toiseksi meidän lapsilla on yksi samantyylinen hupullinen, ylle puettava prinsessa-aiheinen pyyhe, joten pitäähän toinenkin olla! Pyyhkeen väri inspiroi tekemään nimenomaan dinosaurus-aiheisen pyyhekaavun.

En tehnyt mitenkään tarkkaa ohjetta tästä, koska kaikilla on erikokoiset pyyhkeet ja erikokoiset lapsetkin. Tämä on helppo tehdä itse - vain pääaukon tekeminen juuri hupun alareunan pituiseksi vaatii tarkkuutta mittaamisessa. Alla on kuvia avuksi, jos päätät tehdä tällaisen itse! HUOM! Ompelin kaikki saumat ja pikkukolmiotkin siksakilla, jotta pyyhekangas ei purkaantuisi!

I got this funny idea of towel gown because A) we have lots of unnecessary towels and B) my kids have just one towel gowl with Princess theme so we should have another one too! The color of the towel inspired me with the dinosaur theme.

I didn't make a precise tutorial because everyone has different size of towels. However, this is easy to do - just be careful with measuring the neckline. It has to match with the edge of the cape. Here are some photos to help you with making one of your own! ATTENTION! I sewed everything with zigzag to prevent the edges from fraying.

Suurinpiirtein normaalikokoinen pyyhe - A normal size of towel

Varsinainen kaapupala on noin 100cm pitkä (eli valmis kaapu on 50cm pitkä). Kuvan ylempi pala on hupulle ja yksityiskohdille. - The actual gown piece is about 100cm long (so the finished gown will be 50cm long). The upper piece is for the cape and the details.

Muista kääntää kaapuosan leikattu alareuna! - Remeber to fold the cut edge of the gown piece!

Huppukappaleita (joita leikataan siis 2kpl! kaavan alareunan leveys 28cm) leikatessa kannattaa hyödyntää pyyhkeen huoliteltuja reunoja. - Take advantage of the original edges of the towel when cutting the cape pieces ( remember to cut 2 cape pieces! the patterns width 28cm)

Kangasjäämistä leikkasin 8 kolmiota ja kun ompelin 2 yhteen nurjat puolet vastakkain siksakilla, niistä tuli jämäkät "suomut" dinon niskaan - I cut 8 triangles of the fabric remainings. I placed 2 pieces reverse sides against each other and zigzagged. The result was 4 stiff scales to sew in the cape's back seam.

Tässä suomut on aseteltu toisen huppupalan oikealle puolelle. Tähän päälle vielä toinen huppupala oikea puoli alaspäin, nuppineiloilla kiinnitys ja ompelu - The scales are placed on the right side of one cape piece. Now it only needs the other cape piece to be placed the right side downwards, then attaching witn pins and then sew!

Valmis huppu. Mittaa hupun alareuna, jotta voit leikata pääaukon kaapupalaan. - The finished cape. Measure the edge of the cape carefully to know how big the neckline has to be.

Kun saat pääaukon leikattua oikeankokoiseksi, kiinnitä huppu nuppineuloin pääaukkoon. Tässä vaiheessa pääaukkoa voi tarvittaessa vielä suurentaa, jos tarvis. - When you've cut the neckline, attach the cape with pins. At this phase you still have the chance to enlarge the neckline if necessaire.

Jos haluat, voit ommella lopuksi vielä 20cm verran sivusaumaa molemmille puolille. Näin pyyhkeeseen tulee kädentiet ja se pysyy paremmin päällä. - If you want, you can sew 20cm side seams. That's how there will be armholes and the towel gown stays on better.
